About By Design

By Design builds websites, CRM systems and lead automations for home improvement contractors: bathroom and kitchen remodelers, roofers, window installers, and pool and outdoor living builders. We also work with other high-ticket service businesses that sell through appointments, such as HVAC, flooring, siding, garage doors and landscaping. Clients are in the US, Canada and Europe.

What we sell: more than a website

We don't only sell a website. We sell a complete system that turns a lead into a booked estimate automatically:

Website built to book appointments. Fast on phones, written for homeowners in the client's area, with their project photos, reviews and a booking button on every screen. Hosting and domain included.
CRM that centralises every lead. Calls, texts, website chats, form requests, Facebook and Instagram messages all land in one inbox, with the full history of each customer and a pipeline from new lead to won job. Includes a mobile app so the owner can manage everything from the job site.
AI assistant, 24/7. Answers calls, texts and chats in seconds in the client's company name, asks their qualifying questions and books estimates on their calendar.
Automations at every step. Missed-call text-back within seconds; booking confirmation by text and email; reminders before the estimate to cut no-shows; follow-ups for leads who haven't booked, for up to 12 months; thank-you message and Google review request after the job.

Main plan: Website + CRM + automations

Main offer: $297 per month when the client takes 3 months.
Month to month without the 3-month plan: $495 per month, cancel anytime.
No setup fee. No long-term contract. Prices exclude applicable taxes.
The client keeps their domain, website and customer list.

Add-ons (optional, on top of the main plan)

Google Business Profile fix: $500 one-time. We rebuild the client's Google profile: categories, services, service area, photos, description and posts, so they show up in Google Maps results. Done in under 2 weeks.
Google Local Services Ads: $800 per month, or $500 per month on a quarterly package ($1,500 per quarter). We set up and manage their "Google Guaranteed" ads at the very top of Google. They pay Google per lead, and leads go straight into their CRM. Ad spend is paid to Google separately and is not included.
Local SEO: $800 per month, or $500 per month on a quarterly package ($1,500 per quarter). Monthly work to rank the client's website for their trade in their towns: service and city pages, Google profile updates, review strategy and a monthly report.

Add-ons are recommended on the demo call based on the client's market. We never guarantee Google rankings, ad results or a number of leads.

Guarantee

The AI assistant and booking go live within 72 hours of the kickoff call, and the new website within 7 days. If we miss either date, the first month is free. Delays caused by missing client materials (logo, photos, access) don't count.

How it works

Day 0: free 15-minute demo call. We look at the client's area, competitors and how they get jobs today, and show a live demo built for their trade.
Day 1–3: we build and switch on text-back, AI assistant, booking, reviews and CRM. The website follows within 7 days.
Week 1: leads get answered in seconds and booked on the calendar. The owner gets a text for every new appointment.

What we need from the client

A 15-minute call, their logo (a photo of their truck works), 10 to 20 photos of past jobs, their service area, their average job price and the questions they ask new customers.

Frequently asked questions

Is it just a website? No. Website, CRM, AI assistant and automations, all included in the main plan.

Is there a contract? No. Monthly is month to month. The 3-month option is paid once upfront at the lower rate.

Is there a setup fee? No.

I already have a website. Why switch? Most contractor sites look fine but don't answer leads. We keep the domain and either rebuild the site or plug the AI assistant and booking into the existing one.

Can I keep my domain? Yes.

Do I need to know anything about computers? No. We set up everything and show the owner how to use the app on the kickoff call.

Will the AI say something wrong to my customers? It only answers with information the owner approves and hands the conversation to them when a question goes beyond that.

How fast will I see results? Text-back, AI assistant and booking work from day one. Reviews and Google ranking build over 60 to 90 days.

I've been burned by agencies before. No contract, no setup fee, and the client owns their domain and site. They can cancel with one message.

Do I need the add-ons? No. They are optional. On the demo call we say which one, if any, makes sense.

Is the Local Services Ads budget included? No. The $800 or $500 per month is our management fee; ad spend is paid to Google directly, per lead.
